Victoria Tomlinson

Having spent ten years in manufacturing, Victoria Tomlinson was a director at Ernst & Young before moving north and starting Northern Lights. The PR consultancy consistently wins national and regional awards and is frequently named in the top ten of Yorkshire agencies.

 

Victoria was recognised by the CBI as a finalist in their business adviser of the year and represents the CBI on a number of government and education consultation panels.

 

Victoria sits on the boards of Bradford University School of Management, a top ten UK business school; Northern Ballet Theatre; and Common Purpose North Yorkshire.  She is a Prince’s Trust mentor.

Carol Arthur

Carol Arthur is a trained journalist and has wide-ranging experience in business, education and consumer markets. She has worked in or headed up the PR departments of two colleges, the North Eastern Co-operative Society and Northumbria Tourist Board.

 

A graduate of Common Purpose, Carol is currently regional chair of the CIPR, the industry’s professional body. She is a member of the PR degree employer advisory panel at Leeds Metropolitan University.

 

Carol has account management roles, using her skills in creative solutions, strategic planning and writing.  She is an active supporter of local charities and the community helping with fund-raising and PR activities.

Ruth Badley

Ruth Badley joined Northern Lights after 12 years as a senior feature and arts writer with the Ackrill Newspaper group.  At Northern Lights Ruth brings her writing skills and account management experience to consumer, arts, lifestyle, business and education campaigns.

 

She has particular expertise in building long term relationships with national, regional and trade media.

 

A trained drama teacher, Ruth has taught in London comprehensives and run adult literacy and English as a second language programmes in Australia.

Ruth Lewis

Ruth has been in PR since graduating from university.  A former assistant director of Citigate PR, she set up and ran the company’s Leeds office. Ruth is particularly experienced in corporate and financial PR and at Northern Lights she project manages and contributes at a strategic level to client projects.

 

Ruth is a school governor and former chairman of The Chernobyl Children Lifeline charity where she spearheaded a number of innovative fund raising activities for the charity.

Sandy Welsh

Sandy Welsh worked as media buyer/accounts assistant at an advertising/PR agency in Harrogate for four years prior to joining Northern Lights PR. In her native Holland, Sandy worked in recruitment after completing a degree in facilities management.

 

Her role at Northern Lights is managing the office, providing project support, preparing the accounts and client budgets, efficient client liaison and generally ensuring the smooth running of the office.

Ruth Nicholson

Ruth Nicholson, known as Ruthie, has considerable experience in customer services and office support. She moved to Yorkshire from Winchester, where she had spent 16 years with HSBC in a variety of customer service roles and four years at Eastleigh College sorting out student administration.

 

At Northern Lights Ruth provides general office assistance and supports other members of the team with client research and projects.
